Souji stands at a height of 5'9, weighing roughly 182 lbs. His hair approaches silver in color, with pale-blue eyes. Due to how messy his hair can get, often it can obscure one of his eyes, though he never lets it hang freely while piloting. Despite being born in space, he has acclimated most to japanese culture on Earth, taking interest in their history and customs. Much of his clothing consists of various kimonos, hakamas, haoris, and at least one authentic set of armor said to have been used in ancient times, though it holds little more than sentimental and historical value to him. As a result, many of his civilian outfits are a mix of the above outfits. However, when called to battle, he will wear his flight uniform is machina battle is to be expected.

Though he has a fair appearance about him, he possesses several scars and bruises from Close Quarters Combat training. To this end, though he accepts them with pride, he dislikes showing them to others as he feels it can show a sense of inexperience and clumsiness on his part, when it is really him training as hard as he can. He stands out as an oddity even among fox species-type Mukuru due to possessing three tails and, as a result, is the source of his 3-T nickname: Three-Tailed Trouble.

A surprisingly benevolent and calm figure, Souji rarely lets emotions run amok if he can help it. In his eyes, there are thousands who find it in themselves to show their rage and anger for the war, for one another, and for the other side... To him, he doesn't wish to add to that number, and so friend or foe, he treats all with respect and kindness. However, he remains fully aware that his enemies will extend no such graces for him and is always ready to fight tooth and nail to survive if cornered. Having been borned toward the end of peaceful times and seen the ravages of arms races and wars from then on, he's long since grown a distaste for the conflict as a whole. To him, neither side is right in their pursuit for justice, and he believes both sides have their fair share of rotten people pulling the strings somewhere, keeping a war for supremacy running through the ages until only one side is left standing, at the cost of so many lives.

Being an alien species himself, Souji is friendly and accepting of extraterrestrials and terrestrials alike. He rarely runs into extremists who dislike aliens like him, and any encounter with them is simply met with smiling silence as he goes about his business. When he sees allies or innocents who need a helping hand, he'll always be ready to assist. If an enemy willingly gives up or retreats, he isn't one to pursue a weakened or crippled foe, for personal and strategic reasons. More often than not, he often aims to try and spare his opponents from death... However, if it cannot be helped for one reason or another, he will not hesitate to strike fatally, even if he laments the choice after.

Ambitions: Souji is not an overly ambitious figure, though some of the things he does desire can be considered nothing short of tall orders. However, no ambition goes realized without some measure of effort put into it, and he always gives his 100% in his daily life to see them realized.

Born to the loving parents of Raiga and Yuki Kobayashi, Souji was a spirited and energetic child born during the last remaining times of peace throughout the galaxy. Born with a latent mischievious streak much like his father, the patience and kindness of his mother eventually won him over as he was groomed to be a well-behaved and benevolent boy. Raised on japanese culture and customs, he took an interest in everything ranging from the way wars were waged in ancient Japan to their weapons to their state of living in present times prior to the great migration to space. Despite living within the Union Colony Cluster, having an establishment in a rural area of the colony had a positive effect on the boy's growth, allowing him to retain and grow older with a serene and peaceful state of mind that persists to their very day. However, as he grew, he also became acutely aware of the atrocities performed on each side, with the end result always being the same: People miserably blaming one another and calling for war to solve their problems.

Even before he was old enough to join the military, he saw himself joining the Union Harbinger military forces to help bring this way to an end, though the delusions of grandeur were much greater back then. Believing it would be as easy as making your intent to seek a peaceful coexistence with the other side, he underestimated the bloodlust and hatred each side harbored toward the other, and in growing realized how naive this thinking truly was. Though he was not discouraged from joining the Union Harbinger military, he was forced to rethink his methods and resigned himself to a much longer, slower path. As little more than a grunt of the military, a cog in the machine, he would slowly rise and show his friendly intentions with pride to friends and foes alike. His father, fearing that this would ultimately come back to bite him in return, helped to train Souji and show him that kindness would not always prevail, but determination would help him try again another day. Taught to be friendly but never too friendly, Souji eventually joined the Harbinger Union and began to apply himself as much as he could to make a name for himself. Understandably, his appearance and mannerisms had already earned him odd looks and even odder nicknames from his associates, and some even believed him to be nothing short of bad luck, refusing to associate with him.

Nevertheless, he soldiered on in his training, proving himself as a capable combatant in Machina combat, but sought more than simply being sent out to fight the battles of others. Eventually he elected to sign up as a test subject for the Harbinger Union's Research and Development division, acting effectively as a guinea pig for new weapons and technologies being considered for limited or mass-production. Known for putting any and all innovations through the grinder, he refused to let a faulty or lackluster piece of equipment reach the hands of an ally if he could help it. This persistent dedication allowed him to remain full-time as a tester and was even offered some limited input on creations and innovations for his unit. Nevertheless, he still fought with a stock unit, not wishing to garner distinction among enemies as someone that needed to be watched out for, but his performances were enough to have him considered for a promotion. Continuing as he did for years to come, he eventually reached the rank of Second Lieutenant. He's since strived to show himself as a capable and reliable person to his superiors even despite his odd quirks and behaviors.

In recent years, he's found himself sometimes working alongside mercenaries, showing him a new face of warfare he'd never seen: People who fought solely for money, nothing more and nothing less. Irregardless of how different their views were, he still found himself enjowing their company and prowess, taking each battle alongside them as a learning experience and a chance to refine his own skill in battle. All in all, despite the overwhelming negativity he's faced with from the Ebonheart Empire and the notion that neither side may truly stop until the other is completely annihilated, he fights hoping a new route opens to everyone in the future who have grown sick of the decades-long conflict.

- As expected of his interest in japanese culture, he enjoys close-quarters battle both on-foot and in a Machina. This does not, however, mean he is incompetent with ranged weapons. While he dislikes rapid-fire or overly destructive ranged arms, he has a preference for semi-automatic and single-shot weapons for less wasteful, more efficient combat.

- He is not often approached by girls, and in truth he feels awkward around them. If ever asked about his presence in women, he abstains from answering, if only because he does not know what he wants out of them.

- Cannot hold his alcohol to save his life. Getting him to drink is a surefire way to get him to make a fool of himself. Frighteningly enough, however, his battle capability is not diminished while under the influence and even seems to improve, though he clearly cannot pilot while in such a state.

- Possesses a green thumb, but does not like letting others know about his gardening habits as he feels it isn't becoming of a soldier... As if everything else he did didn't already invoke the notion.
